Propel Software Corporation Signs Distribution Agreement
with Hawk Communications
Hawk Communications Properties to Offer Unprecedented Speed
to Dial-up Subscribers
August 5, 2003, San Jose, Calif: Propel Software Corporation today
announced a distribution agreement with Hawk Communications, a premier
provider of Internet services. Under the terms of the deal, Hawk's family of
ISPs, including Joi Internet, will soon offer subscribers PropelŽ
Accelerator. Awarded Editor's Choice on CNET and reviewed in the Washington
Post, San Jose Mercury and others, Propel AcceleratorŽ speeds up the
browsing experience by up to five times.
"Hawk is constantly in search of services that improve the online experience
of our subscribers," says Joe Egosi, CEO of Hawk Communications. "Not every
household is ready to make the transition to broadband, either because of a
lack of availability, or because cost is too great a barrier. For them,
Propel Accelerator will instantly provide access to a 'high speed dial-up'
experience at an affordable monthly rate."
After a comprehensive process of testing and analysis, Hawk selected Propel
Accelerator for its dial-up acceleration offering. "Based on the strength of
Propel's partnerships on both the network service provider and Internet
service provider side, it became obvious that they are the clear leader in
the dial-up Web acceleration space."
"Hawk is a company dedicated to seeking out the best possible services for
its customers, and we're pleased to be a part of its offering," said Adriaan
Theron, Vice President of Sales and Marketing Worldwide for Propel.
Hawk will roll out a fully integrated dial-up acceleration program with each
of its ISP properties reaching hundreds of thousands of subscribers in the
coming months.
How Propel Accelerator Works
Based on a client/server architecture, Propel Accelerator speeds up first
page visits using patent-pending compression techniques and optimized TCP/IP
connections. Subsequent page visits are further accelerated using
multi-tiered caching technology that can accelerate both static and dynamic
content by leveraging common page fragments shared across repeat visits to
dynamic pages. These techniques result in significantly fewer bytes being
transmitted across what is known as the "last mile."
