Propel® Announces New
Self Hosting Solution,
Giving Greater Control to ISPs
April 1, 2003, San Jose, CA: Propel Software Corporation today
introduced Propel® Web Acceleration Server (server software),
which allows ISPs to deploy the Propel Acceleration Service within their own
network environment. The beta version of this product is already under
evaluation with a select group of ISPs, and will be generally available in
the second quarter of 2003.
To date, Propel has signed hundreds of partners since its inception in
September of 2002, allowing ISPs to offer the award winning Propel
Acceleration Service to hundreds of thousands of dial-up subscribers. "The
ability for ISPs to host the service has been one of the main requests we've
received from the market over the past few months," said Adriaan Theron,
Vice President of Sales and Marketing Worldwide for Propel Software. "With
our server software, we're able to offer ISPs a stable, scalable self
hosting option that raises their margins and offers more in-house
operational control."
Propel Web Acceleration Server
"We've found the self hosted solution to be very simple to deploy. We
received an email with detailed instructions for set up, and we were up and
running within a half an hour," said Charles Fortner, CEO of MC.net, one of
the beta customers using the new product.
All hosted solutions share the common Propel Accelerator client software,
which operates on each end user's PC. Propel's server software, in
conjunction with the Propel Accelerator client, requires very few changes to
an ISP's existing infrastructure, and immediately speeds up a typical user's
Web browsing experience by up to five times.
Pricing for the server software is uniquely designed to map to the business
model of the individual ISP. Rather than a typical cost per server model,
ISPs will be able to pay a per user per month royalty fee. U.S. pricing
begins at under $2 per month per subscriber, with the cost decreasing based
on volume and level of commitment.
"We're excited about this new product for a number of reasons. It is very
easy and inexpensive to deploy, and has already proven its ability to
